Modern table lamps, floor lamps, and wall lamps from FLOS Lighting
We are thrilled to introduce FLOS lighting to the Batten Home collection.
FLOS is a designer lighting brand that has been bringing iconic lighting designs for both home and commercial use. Since its founding in Merano, Italy in 1962, FLOS has innovated lighting design, with many FLOS pieces featured in major art and design museum collections across the world.
FLOS Lighting: Modern Table Lamps
Let’s start with FLOS lighting’s modern table lamps.
The Bellhop Portable LED Table Lamp is a completely wireless lamp that recharges via a micro USB-C cable. Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby introduced this modern table lamp design in 2018 for the London Design Museum. With a charge that holds for up to 24 hours, you can place this portable lamp indoors or outdoors in areas where a plug is out of reach.
The Bellhop Portable LED Table Lamp comes in white, grey, grey/blue, yellow, dark brown, and burnt orange.
The Tab Table Lamp is another design from Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby. Originally introduced in 2011, this sleek table lamp is loaded with thoughtful design features. The head is easily adjustable based on the lighting you need while working, emitting non-dimmable, direct light. It comes in black, matte blue, or dark green.
The Gatto Table Lamp was first introduced in 1960 by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. This delicate sculptural lamp is framed with white powder-coated steel, with a shade that’s sprayed on to provide soft, diffused light.
When you look at the transparent version of the Miss K Table Lamp, it feels like you’re looking at an x-ray of a lamp thanks to its transparent design. The bulb is included, offering a diffused light glow that is fully dimmable.
There’s a pretty cool story behind the design of these modern table lamps: designer Michael Anastassiades was heavily inspired by a video clip of a contact juggler. He loved seeing how the juggler was able to spin and move a set of spheres around his body. His intention with the IC Lamps was to capture a moment in which the spheres seemed to be frozen in place.
Each lamp emits a warm and beautiful diffused light, with a dimmer on the power cord. There are several body options: brass, chrome, red/burgundy, or black.
Can you believe that the Snoopy Table Lamp originally debuted in 1967? FLOS reintroduced the Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni design in 2003 with updated technology that stills honors the original design, which featured an enamelled metal reflector and a white Carrara marble base. The 54-year-old design manages to be both playful and sophisticated. The reflector comes in black or green.
English designer Sebatian Wong decided to explore the combination of modern manufacturing technology with elegance, craftsmanship, and dynamic fluid aesthetics. The result is his Spun Table Lamp, introduced in 2003, but just as modern in 2021 and perfect for the minimal interior. The main body has a spun metal frame and diffuser, with support arms and a lamp-holder support made with die-cast aluminum. With two sizes and three color options (shiny white, shiny black, and mud), the Spun Table Lamp is the perfect lighting solution for a living room side table, a nightstand in a bedroom, or an entryway.
The Taccia Table Lamp is another Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni signature design. Originally introduced in 1962, Castiglioni described this piece as "the Mercedes of Lamps, a sign of success,” and we have to agree.
This unique lamp features a shallow aluminum dome enameled with special heat-proof paint. The dome is positioned on top of a deep glass bowl which becomes a reflecting screen for the lamp. A bulb, hidden inside the metal base, emits the light, while the glass bowl can be moved to adjust the light’s direction to suit the particular lighting needs of each space. The base comes in bronze, black, or silver and you can choose between a plastic or hand-blown glass diffuser.
Lastly, we have the Glo Ball Table Lamp from celebrated British designer Jasper Morrison. Morrison’s intention was to invoke the radiant calm of a full moon, which we think he achieved through this calming and functional table lamp design.
We also have the Glo Ball Basic Table Lamp, which strips the design down to the essential sphere for a pure and minimal look.
FLOS Lighting: Floor Lamps
Now, let’s walk through FLOS lighting’s array of modern floor lamps.
The Tab Floor Lamp is the floor version of the ever-popular Tab Table Lamp. The minimal silhouette is perfect for a modern office area or anywhere else you could use a direct lighting source. Made with a painted pressofused aluminum, this floor lamp comes in black, white, matte blue, and matte dark green.
The IC Light Floor Lamp is the floor lamp version from the IC Lamp series. We love the brass base and multiple height options that can be styled together for a layered look. The base also comes in chrome, black, and red burgundy.
The Arco Floor Lamp is another iconic design from Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. Originally introduced in 1962, this floor lamp has been in production ever since, featured in numerous movies and TV shows thanks to its impressive silhouette. The base is made with a beautiful Carrera marble with beveled corners to soften its edges. The hole makes it manageable to move the fixture when you want to clean or rearrange your space.
The Toio Floor Lamp is another Castiglioni brother design introduced in 1962, playfully pairing a car headlight with a telescopic stem inspired by a fishing rod. The lamp’s name comes from an ironic distortion of the word ‘toy.’
Supported by a beautiful marble base and topped with a spinning cone diffuser, the Captain Flint Floor Lamp is the epitome of unique design paired with premium materials. This floor lamp comes in brushed brass or black and featured a foot dimmer and a diffuser that can be spun and repositioned wherever you need light in your space.
The Spun Floor Lamp is the perfect match with the Spun Table Lamp, emitting beautiful diffused light perfect for a minimal interior. We love the reflective quality of this material and the simplicity in its shape.
The Glo Ball Floor Lamp is perfectly minimal and modern. With 3 different heights and silver or matte black base options, there’s a variation for just about any minimal interior. We especially love this light in living rooms. Get a few in varying heights for a cohesive lighting solution throughout the home.
FLOS Lighting: Wall Lamps
The IC Lamp series is finished off with the IC Double Ceiling / Wall Light, a fantastically minimal lighting option for just about any space, from an art gallery to a minimal entryway. The IC Single Wall Lamp is an even more minimal version depending on your lighting needs and design aesthetic.
FLOS Lighting: Wall + Pendant Lamps
Designed by Patricia Urquiola, the Tatou Pendant Lamp gets its name from the French word for armadillo. The result is a lamp design that pays tribute to an unassuming animal that is protected by its natural armor.
The Chasen Pendant Lamp is another design by Patricia Urquiola. Constructed with a borosilicate diffuser and an etched steel body, this pendant lamp is an enchanting presentation of diggused light.
With the Zeppelin Pendant Lamp, an exterior resembling a cocoon covers a classic chandelier, bringing a modern take on chandelier design. The lower base includes a touch of crystal sparkle!
From Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, the Viscontea Pendant Lamp has such an eccentric design and shape. The delicate structure was first introduced in 1960, offering a soft and lovely diffused light for a dining room or open space.
The Taraxacum Pendant Lamp is another functional work of art from Achille Castiglioni and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. The cocoon-like shade is made by spraying resin onto a steel frame, resulting in a web-like structure that is conversation-worthy wherever you place it.
Would you believe that this 265 Swing Wall Lamp was first brought to market in 1973?! Designed by Paolo Rizzatto, this wall lamp design is flexible. The lamp head turns 365 degrees and makes for a great flexible light over a bed, a living space, or a dining table.
