The Louis Poulsen PH 3/2 Wall is part of a three-shade family of lights, including 30 models today. Designed by Poul Henningsen, this system includes table, floor, and wall lamps, as well as chandeliers, popular in the 1930s for high-ceiling homes. Originally, shades were metal with painted undersides to provide diffuse, warm, or cool light, later incorporating glass for broader illumination.

Henningsen's scientific approach used the logarithmic spiral to ensure even light distribution and reduce glare. Each shade proportionately reduces light due to their spacing from the source. Model numbers reflect the shade sizes, with 'pure' models like the 2/2 featuring a 7.9 inch top shade. The PH 3/2 Wall has an 11.8 inch top shade and smaller lower shades from the 2/2 model, introduced for lower pendant hanging. This system is also applied to wall, floor, and table lamps.

Founded in 1874 in Copenhagen, Louis Poulsen is a distinguished Danish lighting manufacturer grounded in the core Scandinavian principles of simplicity, functionality, and craftsmanship. This globally known brand has deep roots in Scandinavian design traditionwhere form strictly follows function, ensuring that every design—from functional task lamps to statement-making pendants—serves a specific purpose. By treating light as an essential element rather than a mere byproduct of an object, Louis Poulsen shapes light to enhance the human experience.

The brand’s global reputation is built upon legendary collaborations with some of the most influential talents in design history, including Poul Henningsen, Arne Jacobsen, and Verner Panton, as well as contemporary visionaries like Oki Sato and Louise Campbell. These partnerships allow Louis Poulsen to maintain a seamless continuity between its rich heritage and the demands of modern living.
