Carl Hansen & Son
FH38 Windsor Chair
The FH38 Windsor Chair was designed in 1938 by Danish architect and cabinetmaker Frits Henningsen. In continuous production at Carl Hansen & Søn until 2003, the majestic chair was later reissued with modern comfort in mind.
Precision shaped from solid FSC™-certified oak and sanded by hand, the high-backed chair is a fusion of a dining chair and a lounge chair. The Windsor Chair’s clean lines belie its skilled craftsmanship, which requires multiple carpentry techniques to make. The majestic design is light in its expression thanks to its open spindle frame and gently curved back, seat, and armrests. Each unique chair is not only beautiful to look at but also a distinguished example of traditional craftsmanship refined over centuries.
Add comfort with the optional leather cushion.
Carl Hansen & Søn is a Danish design company bringing visionary design concepts to life for over 100 years. It all started when Danish cabinetmaker Carl Hansen opened a small furniture workshop on the Danish island of Funen. Just as Carl Hansen did with his furniture shop, Carl Hansen & Søn continues to be committed to honest and sustainable practices, preserving Danish design classics while expanding their collection with new designers. Everything revolves around the belief that iconic design is "a combination of simplicity, aesthetics, and functionality brought to life through skillful work with the highest quality materials."
