Model 2042 - 3 Opaline Spheres
The Astep Model 2042/3, also known as Le Sfere Plafone, is a 1963 design by Gino Sarfatti, celebrating his iconic interpretation of the luminous sphere. This elegant ceiling light features three 7.9" blown opaline glass spheres, gracefully supported by a painted steel frame in Black or Champagne. The steel rings hold each sphere delicately, creating a striking, graphic aesthetic while highlighting the light’s refined, sculptural presence.

Founded by Alessandro Sarfatti, Astep is a design company born from a legacy of innovation, creativity, and respect for evolution. Astep continues a family story that began with Alessandro Sarfatti's grandfather, Gino Sarfatti, and his father, Riccardo Sarfatti—two visionaries who shaped the history of Italian lighting design.
Guided by the belief that progress is built one meaningful step at a time, Astep embodies a forward motion rooted in reflection. Alessandro recalls his father’s words—“We must work in all directions, and in each one find a small amount of innovation”—as both a principle and a promise. Every creation by Astep is a continuation of this idea: that evolution is not about radical leaps, but about the quiet pursuit of something better, something more relevant and enduring. At its heart, Astep bridges the timeless with the contemporary.
