Bysted Garden LED Long Bollard is a downscaled version of Danish architect Peter Bysted's original 1975 design. The bollard is characterized by its four rings and the intriguing soft/diffused/ambient symmetric light pattern it creates on the ground.

This Louis Poulsen garden light has been perfected for easy on-the-spot installation to improve the quality of light in outdoor spaces. Made with durable cast aluminum, it will not patinate over time. Available in two different heights, Bysted Garden allows for a wide range of installations from lighting walkways to illuminating planter boxes on a balcony.

Also Available: Bysted Garden LED Short Bollard

In 1975, Peter Bysted won second prize in a lighting contest with ‘Bysted’, a bollard made from corten steel, suggesting his interest in lighting design years before graduating as an architect and industrial designer from The Aarhus School of Architecture in 1978. While a student he was also very interested in graphic design––the combination of these two fields that characterizes his lighting designs.

Founded in 1874 in Copenhagen, Louis Poulsen is a distinguished Danish lighting manufacturer grounded in the core Scandinavian principles of simplicity, functionality, and craftsmanship. This globally known brand has deep roots in Scandinavian design traditionwhere form strictly follows function, ensuring that every design—from functional task lamps to statement-making pendants—serves a specific purpose. By treating light as an essential element rather than a mere byproduct of an object, Louis Poulsen shapes light to enhance the human experience.

The brand’s global reputation is built upon legendary collaborations with some of the most influential talents in design history, including Poul Henningsen, Arne Jacobsen, and Verner Panton, as well as contemporary visionaries like Oki Sato and Louise Campbell. These partnerships allow Louis Poulsen to maintain a seamless continuity between its rich heritage and the demands of modern living.

Longevity serves as the cornerstone of the Louis Poulsen design philosophy. Rather than chasing ephemeral trends, the company adopts a considered and enduring approach, crafting pieces that remain relevant in both aesthetic appeal and technical performance over many decades. This commitment to durability and timelessness ensures that each design is purposeful and sustainable, reflecting a deep respect for the materials and the artisanal traditions of Danish design.
