Linie Design

Keld Agerskov and Hugo Anthon founded Linie Design in 1980 with the goal to create handmade rugs that merge Danish design with traditional Indian rug craftsmanship. The founders were driven by a mission to create handwoven rugs that remained true to the Nordic design traditions of uncompromising quality and uncluttered aesthetics.

It all started in 1979 when Hugo Anthon went to a Copenhagen rug exhibition organized by rug weavers Vibeke Klint and Randi Studsgarth. This new generation of rug weavers wanted to show that handcrafted rugs did not have to be synonymous with oriental easthetics, but instead reflect the aesthetics of contemporary Danish design. This is where Hugo Anthon’s vision for Linie Design was born, along with a continual collaboration with Vibeke Klint, Kim Naver, and Trine Ellitsgaard.

Today, Linie Design continues to collaborate with a number of Danish textile designers, pushing boundaries in design while reflecting the unique creative styles of each designer, reproduced by hand by skilled artisans in India.
