Introducing by Crea: Calm Objects Made for Everyday Life
by Crea is a Sweden-based Scandinavian furniture manufacturer that began in 2017 with a simple pain point: being unable to find the right kind of barstools.
“We wanted something minimal, timeless, and well made, but everything on the market felt imported, overdesigned, or short lived.”
In 2017, founder Alexandra Petersson led the production of the first Freja Bar stool in her family’s southern Sweden factory. Welded by hand, the design was clean, sturdy, and comfortable, making it feel like the perfect timeless fit for real homes.
“At the time, there was no plan to start a furniture brand; we simply wanted well-made furniture for our own projects.”
With no intention to start a furniture brand, people began to be curious about the barstools in their property development products, which sparked an idea to launch a small website which quickly evolved into by Crea.
Following the Freja was the Sella Dining Chair, the Iris Bedside Table, and many more designs, all designed and produced by Alexandra herself and named after people who have influenced her.

While by Crea has expanded since its first bar stool, it remains true to its values of Swedish production, uncompromising quality, and genuine human connection. True design is not just how something looks, but how it’s made and how it makes us feel.

Freja Bar Stool
The first by Crea product, the Freja Bar Stool is a modern and minimal stool featuring hand-welded slim steel construction. Designed for everyday use, Freja comes in bar or counter heights. Each welded joint reflects a commitment to enduring quality through honest material expression.
"I wanted to create a bar stool that reminded me of the lines of a modern kitchen,” remarks founder and designer Alexandra Pettersson.
Philip Bar Stool
The Philip Bar Stool is an iteration of the Freja, with the same hand-welded steel frame while featuring a fully upholstered seat and back. Perfect for kitchen islands and bar counters, the upholstery is offered in full-grain faux leather, velvet, or a boucle fabric.
“Philip blends seamlessly into various environments, while also inviting you to linger longer. The result is a barstool that offers comfort in a modern, minimalist design,” remarks designer Alexandra Pettersson.
Ebba Bar Stool
Crafted in solid oak, the Ebba Bar Stool features a square seat and integrated backrest bar. "Choosing Ebba Bar Stool means embracing a piece of Nordic heritage, a statement for both environmental awareness and timeless design,” says Alexandra Pettersson.
Carl Bar Stool
The Carl Bar Stool has the same solid wood craftmanship as the Ebba, except with a full backrest and armrests. Choose between a smooth wooden seat or a soft bouclé cushion. Notice the gently rounded details and supportive armrests, making it built for comfort and everyday use.
Ted Bar Stool
Similar to the Carl Bar Stool, the Ted Bar Stool from by Crea® captures the understated elegance of Nordic design with its solid wood construction, made even simpler without armrests. We love its clean silhouette. Choose between different wood finishes with or without a cushion.
Svea Bar Stool
The Svea Bar Stool takes cues from the original Freja, with a hand-welded steel frame and a simple square upholstered seat. We love the simple Scandinavian elegance of this bar stool, perfect for kitchens, islands, or at-home bars.
Bruno Bar Stool
The Bruno Bar Stool features a black powder-coated steel frame with integrated armrests that feature an optional wrap for added comfort and aesthetics.
